🌸 Gotanda Park – A Cherry Blossom Stroll Above the City

Just a 3 minutes walk from Gotanda Station, Gotanda Park offers a gentle escape from the bustle of the city. The park sits quietly between winding slopes and residential buildings, divided into two tiers by a sloping cobbled path that bursts into colour every spring. Along this path, cherry trees line both sides, forming a pink tunnel that draws in walkers, families, and flower lovers. It’s one of Shinagawa’s lesser-known but best-loved spots for hanami (flower viewing).

Though compact, the park is filled with seasonal color. There are benches and shaded spaces for a break or quiet moment, and while the playground is limited, the atmosphere is peaceful and friendly. A children’s center and a nearby kindergarten add to the feeling of everyday life interwoven with nature.

🌸 Sakura Tunnel

Visitors say the stone-paved slope feels like a secret passage. Even though the incline is steep, many praise the calm and greenery along the walk. Come spring, the path becomes a full-blown cherry blossom tunnel. It’s no wonder this spot earned its place among the Shinagawa Hyakkei.

There are no flashy attractions or elaborate landscaping—just a place where city, season, and quiet meet. If you’re walking to Yakushiji Temple or climbing toward Ikedayama, pause here. It may be small, but it’s easy to love.

An oasis of greenery on a hill that runs through apartment blocks. Commuters getting that early email in on their way to Godanta station. Local worker having a bento. Rumour has it that an old Osaki town hall was built around here. But I’ve found no evidence of that.
