🏋️♂️ The building – Moto-nagisa-dori Gym
Steel pillars, seaside memories
On a Moto-nagisa-dori – a street once touched by sea spray, a modern building rises with bold design — the Konami Sports Club Head Gym (コナミスポーツクラブ 本店). Once known as the Nissan Sports Plaza (日産スポーツプラザ), this gym opened in 2001. In 2003, it was given its current name. Today, it’s facilities include an arena, pool, running track, and tennis and golf equipment. And, it is one of the largest sports facilities in Tokyo.
🛣️ Moto-nagisa-dori – A sea road.
The building stands on Moto-nagisa-dori, a name that pays tribute to its seaside past. “Moto” (元) means “former,” “nagisa” (なぎさ) means “seashore,” and “dori” (通り) means “street.” Long ago, this area lay east of the old Tokaido and was home to a beach. After large-scale land reclamation, the sea disappeared — but the name recalls what was lost.

Show me a sign.

Fine sign. I know what you’re thinking but “constructure” is a real word. Just not one that has been used for a while. Maybe for the next sign use structure, construction or building. (You say “Ahem… pardon me, how’s your Japanese coming along?”)
In Jun 2017 the plate read Konami Sports Club, in 2019 it reads “An impressive building with large pillars along Motonagisa Street”. For some reason they decided on a name change.
Withervee says…
Looking at the reviews on Google there are a lot of people complaining about things. Mainly about each other:
Young people about old people – “I don’t know if it’s because they don’t clean the bathroom properly or because there are a lot of elderly people, but there’s an unpleasant smell of aging near the entrance of the bathroom.” Well, I’m aging and I smell wonderful.
Old people about young people – “Garbage left behind by children remains even the next day. Even though I’m an old woman, I can’t help but wonder how the cleaning goes.” It’s going not well and not often. That’s how it’s going. Kid’s today tut, not like in the olden days!
sometimes the staff – “Staff workers are not friendly at all. They never say ‘oyayo gozaimasu’ and are always so angry. “
And, sometimes the “constructure” itself…
Well that’s people for you. Nevertheless, it only gets 3 1/2 stars.
